Frequently Asked Questions
Why choose Polaris Myanmar as a name?
The Polaris has been a part of navigation and wayfinding for many travelers since ancient times. Just like the North Star, Polaris Myanmar’s mission is to help navigate those who feel like they have lost their direction in life.
What is Myanmar?
Formally known as Burma, our beloved home country is surrounded by culturally diverse countries: Bangladesh, India, China, Thailand, and Laos. As of 2022, GDP per capita in Myanmar is around $4000, which makes us the poorest country in Southeast Asia.
Why are we helping young adults from vulnerable populations?
Our next generation of leaders will bring innovative perspectives and creativity to the future workforce. However, these young leaders from vulnerable populations must overcome barriers to finances, relationships, and access to resources to get there. We created Polaris Myanmar to aid these future leaders in breaking those barriers by providing resources, connecting them with organizations that offer financial support, and forming a support system.
Do you only help people from Myanmar?
Not at all! Our mission is to help young adults from all walks of life, including those living in the United States and other countries.
